Collagen supplement as natural pain treatment? 5 things I have noticed

I wish I had grasped the potential of adding a Collagen supplement to my lifestyle before. Although I had a general understanding of it, it never occurred to me to take a deeper look into it. Probably because most I was hearing about was related to beauty and I was more on a medical “feel good” journey. Until last year as I got introduced to it from another angle, the health benefits and the sound of natural pain treatment sounded exciting. I’ll be honest, even then, I didn’t jump in the air all excited. I needed to understand why it makes so much sense, a real  “ah ha” moment for me.

In this post, I will talk about the changes I have noticed within the first 2 months of using it. I do not make any medical claims, just sharing my own results, my husband’s and my excitement.

Why 2 months?

Because people are impatient! They want to see instant results. And I say NO! I do not believe in quick fixes. I believe in long term habits. Little things done every day over and over that will lead to improvement and reach goals.

Although I have seen results in the first days of using it (we’ll get to that), everyone is different. Two months seem a good time for a trial. It allows my body to adjust to something new and get a more accurate idea of the progress.

I am a health nut!

You know me, I am a passionate health nut, NATURAL health. Therefore, Collagen supplement as natural pain treatment was right down my alley. My passion for a healthy lifestyle started almost 10 years ago as my oldest son got diagnosed with ADHD and medication didn’t seem the right path for us to take. In my quest to find a natural way to help him, I became a mom on a mission and found my passion, natural health and lifestyle. It didn’t take very long either for me to develop this passion into my career and went back to school studying massage therapy. In 2014, I graduated as a remedial massage therapist and built my clinic that quickly became very successful.

I specify this as my background as a remedial massage therapist truly is what made me understand why taking Collagen supplements could be so lifechanging to many people and potentially be a natural treatment for pain.

1 – Only took me 2 days to see the first results, my eczema was clearing up

Nat Carrel - The Blog - Collagen SupplementI had this super annoying, itchy and painful eczema thingy developing nasty on my ring finger (under my wedding ring), on my transplanted skin… So bad I had to remove my ring.

You see, I have scars all over my hands and transplanted skin as well. I was born with a congenital deformity called syndactyly – my fingers were fused together. They are pretty sensitive and it was not the first time I was dealing with this kind of eczema on my fingers. It has in the past been so bad I had to wear cotton gloves all day long as I would not bear my fingers touching each other.

Making sure I got rid of my candida overgrowth a few years back as I got started on my inner health journey had made some improvement, along with a healthy diet. But I would still get flare ups that would last for weeks.

Well, 2 days into taking a liquid Collagen supplement, it started clearing up. And was all gone after only a few days.

2 – My husband’s joint pains have disappeared!

After only a couple of weeks, my husband Yan mentioned how great his legs were feeling. And that he hadn’t used a painkiller since he got started on the Collagen supplement! That was huge, as he was really suffering on a daily basis from old soccer injuries.

Painful joints, creaky knees, inflamed and swollen ankles, the feeling of having sand in his joints, all this started to disappear and he said, “wow my joints are working so smoothly again!”

Not one pain killer since he is on collagen supplement,  no- more pain from inflammation in his ankles and knees. He feels strong and stable on his legs again, meaning that he can use them without always “be careful” as his joint could be creaking or hurt. It is wonderful to see him run around with our kids again or go for long walks on the beach.

3 – My skin is looking so much younger, wrinkles and stretch marks are fading off but this is not what get’s me the most excited!

At the age of 41, signs of age are slowly showing. It is not something that I see as highly important, as I have always believed in my inner balance more than my appearance. But of course, I love to see my wrinkles diminishing and my skin glowing and getting it’s elasticity back. That’s exciting.

Stretch marks! My momma pouch sure is proudly zebra striped. Never had an issue with it, as I was so deeply grateful to become a mum after experiencing the painful reality of miscarriage. But I am noticing a change with my zebra lines. My stretch marks are fading off and my tummy skin has become more tonic and elastic. Hurray! I didn’t see this coming!

More strongly, my remedial massage therapist brain also understands something else by looking at my skin. Our skin is more than a pretty wrap around our body, it’s the mirror of inner health, a reflection from the inside! Therefore, my brain is thinking of muscle elasticity, healthy cartilage and connective tissues, bone density and so much more! Collagen supplement as natural pain treatment just makes sense to me in situations of joint and muscle pain or accident.

If you wonder how important Collagen is to our body, here’s a great explanation Collagen: What is it and what are its uses?

4 – Hair and nails are growing so fast

My hair is feeling so much shinier and I definitely have less dry ends. I would even add, my hair feels like being denser (yay!) and is easier to style.

I ‘ve always had long hair. But it’s the first time I can feel it be so “alive” if that does make any sense… lol

Now the change occurring in my husband’s hair is even more dramatically exciting! His hair is regrowing! Yes, at the age of 43 his hair is growing back. He wasn’t bold, right! But his hair was most definitely falling out, see the pictures. Those are my husband’s results after only 2 months of using Collagen supplement daily.

5 – My energy levels have increased and I feel amazing

Firstly, I am generally feeling amazing and energized since taking a Collagen supplement. I am more excited about my workouts and feel fewer recovery pains afterwards. I totally understand why so many athletes and active people are making it a prime choice.

Something else I have noticed is fewer cravings and a feeling of generally being full faster. Something I can only welcome.

To sum up on Collagen supplement as natural pain treatment – my general experience

Taking a Collage supplement comes with a price tag however investing in my health has no price but high value! Seeing my husband pain free is priceless to me. The dreaded knee replacement surgery has become less likely or at least not in the near future.

I haven’t personally experienced any sides effects from taking the liquid supplement, nor did my husband. We are both extremely excited about taking our Collagen goodness, and it has become part of the routine, 1 tablespoon, twice a day.

My only wish was I had discovered it earlier to share with my clients in my remedial massage clinic. It just makes so much sense. It would have made such an amazing tool to potentially help my clients feel better and heal stronger. Again no medical claim here as everyone is different.

(Nowadays, I am a full-time online entrepreneur and author as I let go of my clinic after 4 successful but very hard years of working as a therapist. Why did I let go of a business I built up from scratch? I talk all about it in my book All in on a Dream, but it will also be the topic of a future blog post. Amazing. I take collagen, and I feel it helped me to alleviate a dull pain in the knee, but your results are impressive. I am glad your eczema improve so quickly. Did you take marine collage?
